I am the music teacher at New Hope Elementary. I graduated from the University of Montevallo with a degree in Music Education and Trumpet Performance. I am a Kodaly certified teacher, a method that uses folk songs to teach music literacy. I do this through careful musical selection and a lot of games! I have also begun the ukulele program at New Hope to teach chord progressions to our older students. 

 

One of my favorite things about being a music teacher is seeing how much fun the kids have learning new concepts. Often times we are learning without the kids even knowing! You never know what is going to be happening in my classroom! Hopefully, you are hearing some of the wonderful songs our kids your learning at home! 

 

I live with my wonderful husband Abraham, our dog Major Babskins (Babs), and our cat Kitty. In our free time, we enjoy playing disk golf (although we aren't very good) and playing with any and all instruments we can find (we are slightly better at that).

 

I am looking forward to seeing all the amazing things our students can accomplish!
