Chronic absenteeism is an at-risk indicator and a measure on the State accountability report card. Every student misses valuable instruction time when he/she is absent from school. For this reason, the Board established the following comprehensive final examination exemption guidelines.
A student will earn the option of exempting a comprehensive final examination if one of the following minimum criteria for attendance andacademic achievement is met:
Course Average --> Course absences (No more than)
80 or above --> 6
60 or above --> 4
- A student who earns exemption status has the option to take the comprehensive final examination in an effort to raise (not lower) the final grade average for the course.
- The comprehensive final examination grade will count 20% of the student’s final grade.
- Advanced Placement Courses will follow this exemption policy.
