Building Construction Pathway

  • Construction is the process of constructing a building or infrastructure. Construction as an industry comprises 6%-9% of the Gross Domestic Product. Construction starts with planning, design, and financing; it continues until the project is completed and ready for use. Large-scale construction requires collaboration across multiple disciplines. Employment of construction laborers and helpers is projected to grow 12 percent from 2016 to 2026, faster than the average for all occupations. Laborers and helpers work in all fields of construction, and demand for these workers should mirror the level of overall construction activity.
