" I have come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element in the classroom. It's my personal approach that creates the climate. It's my daily mood that makes the weather. As a teacher, I possess a tremendous power to make a child's life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration. I can humiliate or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis will be escalated or de-escalated and a child humanized or dehumanized." Haim Ginott

This quote is my belief in how big our impact is on students in the classroom. I believe that when we approach students in a positive way and have higher expectations and goals for them, then we will get more out of them. Treating students with kindness, respect, and understanding will yield far more results than not doing so. I became a special education teacher because I wanted a career where I would be working to make a difference in children's lives. I love working with the kids because I get to form relationships with them. It becomes almost like a family in the room after a while.
