Degrees and Certifications:
Bachelor's Degree, Education, Master's Degree, Education, Middle Tennessee State University
My name is Jessica Michelle Graves. Friends and family call me Jessey. Students call me Mrs. Graves or Mama Graves (because I often say and do things that remind them of their own mom). I graduated Sparkman High School in 1997. In 2002, I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education. In 2012, I earned my Master's in Education at Middle Tennessee State University.
I thought I might move away to teach, but God's plan was to keep me in this community. I began teaching at Sparkman in August of 2003. In all these years, one thing that remains the same is the exceptional students we have at Sparkman. Words cannot express the joy that teaching at Sparkman brings me. I teach math. And let's face it....math is hard for a lot of people. My number one goal each year is to change the students' attitudes toward math. I plan lessons that will help students to build confidence in themselves when it comes to math problems. Too many students feel defeated in areas before they even try. So while my title is teacher or educator, most days I feel like an entertainer, performer, motivator, mentor and coach. I have wanted to be a teacher since I was six years old. And not too many people can say this, but I am living my dream.
I am over joyed with happiness to be married to a Madison County Sheriff's deputy, Jeff Graves. I am the proud mother to one son (Ethan), one daughter (Lily), and two stepsons (Caleb and Cayden). We have two dogs (Brownie and Bailey), and one cat (Bella). We are a big, happy, fun-loving family. However, when it comes to the Iron Bowl, part of us yell Roll Tide, while the other hollers War Eagle. So on that one day of the year, the family is a house divided.
