Principal's Message

  • Dear Sparkman Middle School Family,

Welcome to the 2020-21 school year! My name is Jennifer Whitt and I am honored to serve you and your child as the principal of Sparkman Middle School. I have been either a student, parent, or educator in the Sparkman family of schools for over 40 years. Twenty of those years have been spent as a teacher, coach, or administrator at Sparkman Middle School. My life and career experiences provide me with a unique understanding of the people and places that make our community special.

We are blessed to have faculty and staff who are incredibly invested in our school. They truly go above and beyond on a daily basis and I am continually amazed at their dedication and love for our students. Collectively, we are strong, innovative, and fearless in the pursuit of providing students with opportunities for growth and achievement. I look forward to working with an outstanding team of educators, students, and parents to create a place where kids want to come to school and teachers want to come to work.

Many improvements have been made to our campus over the past year. If you’ve driven by lately, you have probably noticed the new main entrance, new digital sign, and the new resurfacing and striping of the parking lot. We can’t wait for you to see how great everything looks on the inside as well.

Starting school remotely is different than anything we’ve ever experienced before but I have no doubt that our dedicated faculty and staff along with our amazing students and parents will do everything in their power to make the best of our current situation. I read a quote recently that said “This school year will be the toughest on record however it could also be the best and most transformational year ever for education. Our mindset will be critical.” I want to encourage us all to help our students focus on what they can control, their attitude and their effort. Let’s work together to teach them to use the difficulty of their present circumstances to build up their resiliency and inner strength. After all, Sparkman Cougars don’t just go through adversity, we grow through it.

I encourage you to reach out to me anytime with your questions and concerns. I look forward to working with you as a team to help your students have a successful school year! We are Sparkman and I know we can do “virtually” anything!

    Sincerely,

    Jennifer H. Whitt
