July 22, 2020

  • This morning, the superintendents from Huntsville City Schools and Madison City Schools joined me for an important announcement.

Due to the ever-increasing numbers of positive COVID-19 cases in Madison County, we are announcing collectively that all instruction in Huntsville City, Madison City, and Madison County School Systems will be conducted remotely for the first nine-weeks.

For our Madison County School System family, this means all students will start at Level 3 Substantial Spread of our reopening plan.  We will provide additional information to our families July 31st.

Many of our families have already chosen the remote option at their child’s school, or enrolling in the Madison County Virtual Academy.

All three school districts will continue to monitor the current pandemic in order to determine when and how students will return to the classroom. Due to potential health risks, we believe this is the safest approach for our students, families, and employees.

We understand this puts a hardship on our families, but the safety of all of our stakeholders is a priority.

We know these are difficult times. We sincerely appreciate your flexibility, creativity, and patience.

    Thank you,
    Allen Perkins
