Degrees and Certifications:
B.A. History, Athens State University
With a passion to learn from the past, I have been groomed to teach. Originally from Birmingham, Alabama. My father was a former Negro League pitcher; having played with the Detroit Stars; and my mother is a retired judge. My wife, Stephanie, and I are the proud parents of one son, Langston. I am a descendant of a long line of educators and activists. My grandfather was a Civil Rights legend in Birmingham and my aunts, uncles, and cousins are education administrators, professors, and teachers. I am a graduate of John Carroll Catholic High School, Birmingham, where I lettered in football, basketball, and baseball and was also active in four choirs and editor of the literary magazine, The Looking Glass. I have been a little league baseball coach, a pageant choreographer, and have worked in childcare, after-school care, and summer day camps for eight years. I received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Athens State University, with a major in History and a minor in Secondary Education. I believe that with reflection on the events of the past, one can find how those events shaped our current and future society.
