I grew up in Decatur, not far from here, and graduated from Decatur High (Go Raiders). I have a Master’s in English from UAH, and I have been teaching English and writing for 18 years. I have taught college, middle school, and now high school English. And I love it; it is my passion. I get to work with some amazing educators who challenge me to be better. In addition, I get to work with a diverse group of young people who challenge me not just to be an effective teacher, but a more patient, compassionate, and empathetic person. 

My family consists of my husband of 27 years, my two daughters, one son-in-law, and one amazing grandson. My favorite things to do are cook and hang out with the fam, practice yoga, go glamping (camping in a trailer), play ball with my GSD, Stella, and read intriguing mysteries or watch British crime shows. My all-time favorite is Endeavor. 

One thing most people do not know about me is that I used to be a professional makeup artist for Bobbi Brown Cosmetics. I traveled all over the southeast working for various shows, weddings, and special occasion events. It was a very exciting time.
