Hi, my name is Kathryn Libera, but I typically go by Katie. I am very excited to be teaching at Mt. Carmel Elementary! I graduated from Athens State University in 2015 with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. I am a current University of West Alabama student and will graduate with a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education in the fall of 2023.
My teaching career began in 2015 at a private day school as a Lead OSR First Class Pre-K teacher in Decatur. From 2016 to 2023, I taught Pre-K at Holy Family School in Huntsville. While there, I assisted in opening an OSR First Class Pre-K classroom and was named the Lead Pre-K teacher and program director. During that time, I spent two years as an elementary reading tutor for Huntsville City Schools. I spent my last few years at Holy Family School as an OSR First Class Pre-K mentor teacher and a Conscious Discipline CDAT mentor classroom.
I love spending time with my family; my husband, Danny, and two children, Lillian and Harrison. I enjoy cheering on my children as they participate in sports and other extracurricular activities. I also enjoy hiking, camping, and generally being outdoors. Teaching is my passion, and I strive to instill a love for learning in my students. I aim to inspire and support my students academically, socially, and emotionally.
